Jussi, this seems to be Ukranian, not Russian. Klim, would you please upload exactly the same image which causes the crash? What we are supposed to do with a TIFF file which works fine?

On OSX it tries to print a ton of error messages using MessageBox. The first call comes from kronrod/grey-wnd.c:273 and says:

MessageBox (null): GREY: TOO MANY LINES (11259)

The image size is 9672 x 11259.

The rest come from line 414 and say

MessageBox (null): GREY TO:
NOT OPEN 0,0

Is there a maximum image size that Cuneiform will accept? If yes then what is the limiting factor?

Look at grey-wnd.c:148-149

#define MAX_NI 8192
#define MAX_NJ 8192

I think these macroses defines accepted image size 8192x8192 for OpenOCR.

And I think very high resolution (1200 dpi) can cause errors or low ocr
quality/

Image has 107 dpi and this is very bad for OCR.
The second bad news - your image is gray, current binarizer is very poor.

I try resample image to 321 dpi and binarize to black&white. OCR result is
good.

cuneiform segfaults in Natty with a bitmap with 400 dpi and the following specifications:

$ identify /tmp/tmpuPHbx9/left.tiff
/tmp/tmpuPHbx9/left.tiff TIFF 2400x3779 2400x3779+0+0 1-bit Bilevel DirectClass 68.8KB 0.000u 0:00.000

If I change it to 100 dpi (same pixel size), it works.

Hi,
I have the same issue.

I am using cuneiform in Windows 7 PC. I generated .bmp images for my PDF file using IntraPDF - PDF2IMAGE converter in different DPI formats (50%, 75%, 100%, 125%, 150%, 200%, 300%)

All of them throw the same error
PUMA_XFinalrecognition Failed.

I tried the same with some other PDF files too. I get the same error. Can someone pls help on how to get this issue fixed?

Is there something wrong with the generated .bmp file or with cuneiform?

Regards

Hi,
I also had something like "PUMA_XFinalrecognition failed".
I set "no compression" options for all image formats and increased resolution to 300 dpi in xSane, which helped.
