Bug Description

Selecting Edit > Clear does not clear the channel buffer (equivalent to pressing CTRL+L), nor does it clear the text input box. If it has a function, it is clearly not visible.

I assigned CTRL+L to this menu option (I have the global GNOME option enabled to change accelerators), and then CTRL+L stopped functioning properly as well, even after clearing the accelerator.

Version installed: 0.10-0ubuntu2

I have no problem with this feature.

Could you test it with a fresh user please ?

I can reproduce this too, however I'm using a custom profile inherited from xchat2. I'll try with a fresh profile.

I just tested again, and I found that "Discussion > Clear Window" which is mapped to CTRL+L will clear the chat buffer.

I have no idea what the non-functional, non-mapped "Edit > Clear" option is supposed to do, but apparently it does nothing here.

I have no idea either but it was removed not so long ago in the svn anyway... It might be a good idea to remove it from the 0.10 in dapper if there won't be any 0.11 soon enough to be included in dapper.

Yep, we removed it in SVN because it's not very useful, easy to use accidentally and still available with /clear.

x-g 0.11 will not be included in Dapper but maybe it's a good idea to backport this change to the 0.10.
