According to the upstream bug report (https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=185017) this bug has been fixed for KDE 4.3. If it has not already been backported to the KDE 4.2 branch for release in KDE 4.2.2, I will backport the fix to our packages myself.

The bug was actually fixed due to a new feature which we won't be able to backport to our packages. (Too late in the release cycle)
I'm afraid we'll have to live with this one until KDE 4.3, when we can release a fix. :(

The fix has been committed upstream, so I am marking this bug accordingly. The fix will be released in Kubuntu 9.10, codename Karmic Koala. (4.3 packages will be made for 9.04, similarly to the KDE 4.2 packages made available for 8.10)
