Bug Description
Binary package hint: kubuntu-
The new usplash theme, intended to fix the problem with stretching on unsupported display resolutions, causes the Kubuntu logo to be stretched vertically instead of horizontally. This does not occur with the Ubuntu splash screen, which is displayed properly. My system is set up both with the correct resolution in the usplash configuration file and a vesafb framebuffer set up at native resolution.

@Michael
Tell me the output of the command:
cat /proc/cmdline
Can you try to remove vesafb on the kernel command line?
