Bug Description
Binary package hint: rhythmbox
IThe Rhythmbox notification area (aka system tray) icon draws its right-click menu "up" instead of "down" when the Gnome Panel is oriented vertically.
1. Make your Gnome Panel orient vertical by moving it to the left side of the screen.
2. Start up Rhythmbox so the notification area icon is present.
3. Right-click on the Rhythmbox icon.
4. BUG: The menu is drawn UP from that icon. It should be drawn DOWN.
That is, the bottom of the menu ("Quit") is drawn just above the icon, with the rest of the menu's contents continuing above. Compare the Rhythmbox menu behavior to (right-click) menus from other Gnome Panel applets and notification area icons (e.g. NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0). The NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0 menu correctly draws down when the panel is vertical.
Drawing "up" is both inconsistent with other applications and expectations. It is also less convenient since the must-used operations are now farthest from the click.
I think that Rhythmbox should not be responsible for determining the location of this menu, and should follow whatever methods that NetworkManager Applet 0.7.0 uses for displaying its ordered menu.
