Hi Bernd,

Please be sure to confirm this issue exists with the latest development release of Ubuntu. ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/lucid . If the issue remains, please run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 336837

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

I tried to start the programm "apport-collect"

bernd@lucid-desktop:~$ apport-collect -p linux 336837
Usage: apport-gtk <report number>
apport-gtk: error: no such option: -p

And without the -p option I ran into the bug #516381 (https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/apport/+bug/516381), so I am not able to attach the requested information to this bug :-(

I installed the latest upstream kernels and noticed the same issue. I tested the following versions:
http://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline/
- v2.6.32.9/linux-image-2.6.32-02063209-generic_2.6.32-02063209_i386.deb -> same issue
- v2.6.33/linux-image-2.6.33-020633-generic_2.6.33-020633_i386.deb -> same issue
- v2.6.34-rc1/linux-image-2.6.34-020634rc1-generic_2.6.34-020634rc1_i386.deb -> this kernel version don't boot on my system

So it seems to me that this bug is an upstream problem.

Your system using the driver modules ohci-hcd and ehci_hcd, which is used with your monitor usb-hub?
