yes same error. /proc/modules does exist and is mounted.

unable to reproduce. can you run manually:

sh -x /var/lib/dpkg/info/python2.6-minimal.postinst configure

and attach the output?

The CC list seems to suggest lots of people seeing this when upgrading to jaunty. I certainly did, but didn't file a dupe because this bug came up.

no, you need to run it as root (same way as you do for installing packages).

So the issue, then, is to figure out why the upgrade process threw up a dialog saying there was an error, and yet the process continues when the dialog is dismissed and, when I rerun the post-inst script as you requested, there is no error now. :-)

If we can eliminate the error dialog during upgrade, we will have fixed this bug.

System hung on restart, became unresponsive. Hard reboot required.
