Please backport Lilypond 2.12 from Jaunty to Hardy (LTS)

Lilypond 2.12 is a major version, with a lot of bugfixes and new features. A list of news is available here : http://lilypond.org/doc/v2.12/Documentation/topdocs/NEWS.html

Now 2.12.1 is available in Jaunty. Please backport it in Hardy LTS.

I will second that request -- because of ATI abandoning the older Radeon chipsets and because the RT kernel will not run under 8.10 or 9.04 on some Dell systems, there will be a long-term need for backports for pretty much all of the Ubuntu Studio packages, and LilyPond is fairly core to Studio as it is the notation renderer for all the music composition systems.

lilypond 2.12 doesn't build on hardy so I doubt that a backport will be possible.

The backports team will probably confirm this.

It looks like this bug requests a backport from Ubuntu 9.04 (Jaunty Jackalope). However, as Jaunty is no longer supported, such a backport is no longer possible.
