dvd-ram model LG GSA-H55N not work fine

I guys , my name is Fabrizio , is the first time for me in Launchpad , i have a lot of problems with the language bat i hope for a well

when start the burn dvd(dvd-r or +r) after a while (30 sec) it stop to work whit an error and the dvd is writed only for 1/5
the same things with wodim , growisofs, brasero etc.

the problem was the UDMA4
my BIOS detect dvd device like UDMA2, but the output #hdparm -i /dev/scd0
was UDMA4
also i had add during the GRUB at the 2° line "kernel...." all_generic_ide=1
and the hdpaem output is change in UDMA2
and it works wery well!!

what the !! could someone please translate that into noobiespeak ! what do I have to change in what configuration file to make what sifa69 says happen. (or how to I change udma4 to udma2 ?) thx!

was only with "intrepid ibex 8.10",
9.04, 9.10,etc,etc..... no problem.

comunque lo dico in italiano...

entri nel GRuB al momento dell'avvio di ubuntu, ti viene mostrato un menu di scelta, selezioni la 2° riga, quella che indica il numero del kernel, la editi (premi "e"), modifichi la parte "all_generic_ide=....." sostituendo i puntini con "1", salvi e riavvia.

nel 2010 funzionava , ora non ne ho bisogno (ubuntu 11.04, kernel linux 2.6.38-10-generic)
