Are all the songs in the same format and, if so, which format. Oh, and the same questions for bitrate.

Yes, all the same, they were copied from cd directly to ipod and then
back to linux rhythmbox.

Here is my own attachment for this bug. Oddly it's only happening on one of my two computers. And it happens with two different programs, Exaile as well as Rhythmbox. Interestingly if I share the songs over the network with Rhythmbox and then play the sound back on the original computer with pulseaudio there is no problem whatsoever.

The pertinent bits seem to be:

oops. here's the attachment. I should mention I took the time to fsck my drives and make sure that there wasn't that problem.

This bug is an upstream one and it would be quite helpful if somebody experiencing it could send the bug the to the people writing the software. You can learn more about how to do this for various upstreams at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream. Thanks in advance!

I would have loved to do it however, the power supply in my desktop has
burned out and it was the system I was running Linux on.
