pywebkitgtk (1.0.1-1) unstable; urgency=low

  [ Christophe Sauthier ]
  * First debian version. Closes: #445451.

  [ Josselin Mouette ]
  * Make the GNOME team uploaders, build-depend on gnome-pkg-tools.
  * Support the get-orig-source target.
  * Remove useless python-webkitgtk-dev.dirs.
  * python-webkitgtk-dev depends on python-gtk2-dev.
  * Remove unused install-indep target.
  * Remove the pkg-config python hack, it’s not needed.
  * Rename packages to python-webkit{,-dev} according to the module
    name.
  * Make python-webkit-dev architecture-independent.
  * Pass ChangeLog instead of NEWS to dh_installchangelogs.
  * Make dh_compress ignore .py files.

No need to go through sponsoring anymore. :-)

This will need changing in conduit:
-Package: python-webkitgtk
+Package: python-webkit

Also some Conflicts/Replaces in python-webkit-deb might be necessary (./usr/lib/pkgconfig/pywebkitgtk-1.0.pc).

What's the plan for this package now as we are in FF?

python-webkitgtk needs an upload for the python 2.6 transition and I don't want to interfere with a open sync.

This bug is making several other packages uninstallable (namely gwibber). Is there any news?

Trying to install python-webkitgtk-dev errors because it needs webkitgtk which it can't install because:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  python-webkitgtk: Depends: python (< 2.6) but 2.6.1-0ubuntu2 is to be installed
E: Broken packages

Which is presumably exact what is mentioned above, with wrong versions.

Wait... are you saying that this is fixed? I'm sorry, I'm new to bug reporting. But currently, when I try to install pywebkitgtk OR python-webkitgtk I'm still getting errors. And for pywebkitgtk I'm getting a "Package could not be found" error.

You need to wait for it to be built and then synchronised to your mirror. A few hours at least, couple of days at worst. You can switch to archive.ubuntu.com in your sources list to shorten this somewhat.

It means that it's fixed in the upload. It takes time for the packages to build from the source upload and then propagate to the mirrors. Give it a few hours.

I'm still getting the same error. I gave it 'a couple of days' as suggested by Iain Lane (not accusing you of fibbing here, you were the one that said it, that was all) but even after sudo apt-get updates and upgrades I still can't install python-webkitgtk still with the same error mentioned first.

Just in case my server was the one that hadn't been updated (was the US server) I changed to the 'main' server and still had the same problem. I'm assuming that the 'main' server is the first one updated and then the changes are propagated around the world.

I'm running 64 bit Jaunty.

Cheers,

Xoke

I didn't notice at the time, but this package has to go through a queue for manual processing due to a package being renamed. It will be done soon, but obviously this delays the procedure somewhat. Look at [0] and you'll see that pywebkitgtk is held up there.

Unfortunately this happens sometimes with development releases.

If you look at the Gwibber PPA, you can grab a copy there. Thats what I did,
and it is working perfectly.

Right, but we'd rather people ran with the official Jaunty versions -
this is what were going to release with so it's important that it gets
as much testing as possible.

Thank god, I thought I was the only one unable to get it. I updated and upgraded every day.

So apparently it is in queue. That's interesting.

It there any way I could know how this process works? And documentation and such, like I've said before, I'm new to this, and I would like to know as much as I can when I bug report.

Some packages could not be installed. This may mean that you have
requested an impossible situation or if you are using the unstable
distribution that some required packages have not yet been created
or been moved out of Incoming.

Since you only requested a single operation it is extremely likely that
the package is simply not installable and a bug report against
that package should be filed.
The following information may help to resolve the situation:

The following packages have unmet dependencies:
  gwibber: Depends: python-webkitgtk but it is not going to be installed
           Depends: python-central (>= 0.6.11) but 0.6.7ubuntu1 is to be installed
