I try to run Synaptic Package Manager, and it gives the following error: "E: dpkg was interrupted, you must manually run 'dpkg --configure -a' to correct the problem. E: _cache->open() failed. Please report. " I am now unable to access Synaptic.

I am a newbie with this OS, so I can't give specifics. I try to open Synaptic,it then gives me an error message and closes the program.

Could you please try to follow these steps:
1) Open a terminal (Applications- >Accessories- >Terminal)
2) Run this command: "sudo dpkg --configure -a"
3) Open Synaptic again.
and tell me if it has solved your problem?
