I can't reproduce it in my testing... Did you do anything special with the /etc/tomcat6/Catalina directory, like changing its permissions ?

    I'm not sure, everything seems OK in terms of permissions. I am actually trying this again with a new system with a fresh install. I'll let you know if it comes up with the same situation. I would cancel this request, unless I get the same error again. If I do, I will re-report it again.

I did a re-install of Tomcat6 and got the same error. I then did a complete removal and then installed again and it worked. Must be some configuration file that is causing the problems.
