Bug Description

Binary package hint: python-mode

Trying to install python-mode on emacs22, I have le following message:

"emacs22 includes it's own python-mode, skipping installation"

which is just plain wrong, since the emacs22 builtin python.el is very different from the original python-mode.el.

I've browsed related bugs, specifically:
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-mode/+bug/134308
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-mode/+bug/155681
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/python-mode/+bug/131355

But, after a manual install and as far as I'm concerned, python-mode.el works JustFine(tm) with emacs22, whether in autoload or manually loading it with "M+X python-mode".

Please give me back my python-mode !-)

Ubuntu 8.10
python-mode 1:1.0-3.1ubuntu4
emacs22-gtk 22.2-0ubuntu2

Confirmed; can we please fix this? It makes using emacs22 (the only supported version of emacs) to develop python painful.
