Bug Description

Symptoms are pretty much identical to following bug report
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/linux-source-2.6.17/+bug/25673

System goes to suspend mode and it does resume from either touchpad or keyboard press, but when login prompt appears keyboard or touchpad doesn't respond. My usb mouse works, but that's about it.

uname -a
Linux ubu-dv7 2.6.27-9-generic #1 SMP Thu Nov 20 21:57:00 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

Here's some information what has been asked in above bug report link from this model

*edit*
This model also has some random issues in connecting to wireless networks. For some very unknown reason connection might work well for many boots and then I can get many boots that my wireless network is seen, but I can't connect to it.

*edit2*
Laptop BIOS has been updated to most recent F.35 released 2008-12-08 if it makes any difference. Problem did exist before this update so I guess it's meaningless?

Hi xbmc50,

Care to give the latest pre-release of Jaunty 9.04 (currently Alpha3) as test?

You should be able to test suspend via a LiveCD. Please let us know your results. Thanks.

Okay I tried alpha 3 (32bit) and suspend it from livecd and it seems leads to system freeze. Laptop doesn't go to suspend at all, but halts to black screen. I tried to go to cli with ctrl+alt+f1 but it doesn't work.

I just tried latest Kubuntu Jaunty Alpha 5 liveCD (this time 64bit version) and tried to sleep system from disc. Now system didn't freeze completely, but now it seems to behave like on my installed Intrepid 32bit version when it recovers.

From Jaunty liveCD this time I could bring system to desktop with my usb mouse and issues command dmesg by virtualkeyboard and here's last part of command as an attachment I saved in text file.

Is there something odd beginning from timestamp [ 4730.936084] ?

So now I can try to do some data gathering on this issue if needed from this liveCD.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS BUG REPORT IS NOW OBSOLETE

I have just updated this HP Pavilion DV7-1003eo laptop bios version to latest F.41 and it has solved this problem. Keyboard and touchpad now work after hibernate.

Here is link to manufacturers site and update
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareDownloadIndex?softwareitem=ob-68845-1&lc=fi&dlc=fi&cc=fi&lang=fi&os=2093&product=3812361

Quote from description of that update package

"Enhancements

# Updates AMD CPU AGESA code to improve compatibility and system stability.
# Fixes an issue where the system wakes up from Standby (S3) mode when the battery power is less than three percent.
# Fixes an issue where the system enters Hibernation mode earlier than specified in the Power Scheme setting for a critically low battery condition."

I have yet tested little stability with this update, but it has solved input device problem I originally created for this laptop and for now it seems that this laptop model is fully compatible with Ubuntu 9.04

Btw. Sorry for those caps :)
