irda-utils error during installation

i have seen the same error messages and warnings, marking as confirmed, importance=low

Is the same problem of using MAKEDEV, a deprecated script. I've written a patch available on #340873 that remove MAKEDEV calls and load at boot ircomm-tty and irnet modules (they create /dev interfaces).

should we mark as a duplicate of bug #340873 then?
it seems to me that 340873 is a slightly different issue, and that the patch you posted there should instead be attached here... I'm no expert, though...

seems or seemed to be a general issue with dpkg or udev or something (search bugs with "rm: cannot remove")

This bug is fixed in Precise.
