gksu based administration is broken

Bug Description

Functions (using e17 configuration) that a user would need to modify for system administration purposes like modifying services, or user and group settings prompts for a password but does not unlock the application so it can be modified. Instead the application prompts you with an error message. Since update-notifier and synaptic appear to work properly using this method, this leads me to believe that it would be possible to achieve this using this method.

Installing policykit-gnome seems to fix it in the e17 "Configuration" menu but not the OpenGEU --> Administration menu. In that menu, Unlock is grayed out.

This should be fixed from the upgrades. Could you upgrade and confirm on
your system too? On my experimental VMs it works nice.
You have to understand that even if the iso had some bugs (and we had a
previous alpha and beta but those bugs weren't, unfortunately, discovered by
anyone) they have now been fixed from the upgrades. Of course when you
posted the problem, I'm sure you were not able of upgrading because of the
previous issue, sorry.

The iso is out there and I cannot post a new 8.04 iso, so, even if there are
a number of unsolved bug in the release version, an upgrade is the logical
way to fix that all. Greetings,

Luca D.M.

I did start a fresh install and ran the updates as I indicated in the
bug. I added the key as well for greenie.sk. It seems to update as
normal (installs the menu extras file during the first wave and doesn't
segabrt e17, but it does break the themes). After the second wave of
updates it fixes the themes but you are again brought to an xterm the
next time you log in instead of the e17 session. I understand that you
can re-create it at login, but I am just trying to help give advice that
will help keep users interested in OpenGEU instead of scaring them away.
I have been running the new updated install for about 36 hours without
problems. I do notice that if I turn bling on, then it will freeze the
screen when I have a certain number of applications open or something
that uses opengl (probably an enlightenment problem). I would like to
get involved with some coding as well. I am a student at DeVry
University and am studying for a Bachelor's in Computer Programming
(game design). If I can help this project in any way, please let me
know.

Thanks for the follow up,

Nik

It seems that system-config-printer link in OpenGEU --> Administration is now broken:

Enlightenment was unable to run the application:

/usr/bin/system-config-printer

The application failed to start.

Installing package system-config-printer-gnome fixes the dead application link, but I wonder if this Administration menu is redundant...
If I go to Configuration --> Configuration Panel I get the same options. Instead of adding more options, and having more than one place to configure things (which may cause more problems later) is the Configuration Panel stable enough to administer the system?
