Bug Description
Attempting to use Gnome Scan (0.4.1-0ubuntu4) with a Canon CanoScan LIDE 25 USB scanner results in the following error after Gnome Scan goes through its 'Probing devices' phase.
'An error occured while accessing device !
The scan backend returned the following error: Invalid argument'
The scanner is recognized by the Lenovo W500 laptop:
$ scanimage -L
device `v4l:/dev/video0' is a Noname UVC Camera (17ef:4807) virtual device
device `plustek:
$
Using scanimage directly appears to use the wrong device by default:
$ scanimage
scanimage: open of device v4l:/dev/video0 failed: Invalid argument
$
Some sort of scan can be made manually (although I haven't properly adjusted settings etc.):
$ scanimage -d plustek:
This controls the scanner and produces a scanned .tiff image.
I am using Ubuntu 8.10.
I modified the file /etc/sane.
PS I am selecting 'I don't know' for the package containing the bug because I get an error on submission of this report saying "gnome-scan" does not exist in Ubuntu. Please choose a different package. If you're unsure, please select "I don't know".
Hi,
Please upgrade ot 0.6.1 available on my PPA. Also, please post debug output ($ flegita > log)
