Bug Description

Binary package hint: firefox-3.0

Adobe Flash Player plugin 10,0,15,3 on Firefox 3.0.5 does not work properly: NO AUDIO. I can only see videos (i.e. from youtube) but without sound.
I checked that my audio systems works well because I can hear from other types of videos (not displayed by adobe plugin)

ProblemType: Bug
Architecture: i386
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 8.10
Package: firefox-3.0 3.0.5+nobinonly-0ubuntu0.8.10.1
ProcEnviron:
 PATH=/usr/local/sbin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/sbin:/usr/bin:/sbin:/bin:/usr/games
 LANG=it_IT.UTF-8
 SHELL=/bin/bash
SourcePackage: firefox-3.0
Uname: Linux 2.6.27-9-generic i686

I too have this problem. Slight newer environment -- fresh install of Kubuntu 9.04.

Adobe Flash Player plugin 10,0,22,87 on FireFox 3.0.9 does not play audio. I've tried several web sites (Yahoo, YouTube, etc.). I've tried rebooting and without starting any apps, just Firefox and navigating to a site. No audio from Flash Player.

Other audio applications (Amarok, System Settings - Multimedia) play audio without issue. I'm using the onboard audio chipset (HD ATI South Bridge, VIA VT1708S analog) on my motherboard (ASUS M4A78T-E).

ProblemType: Bug

When playing other audio applications that do work, if I play an Adobe Flash file, it cuts out all audio except for a very soft static sound that's barely audible.

I've applied all available software updates. Problem still persists. Adobe web site has 10,0,22,87 as the most current available version, which is what's available and installed from the Ubuntu mirrors.

I suspect that it may use the pulse audio system that seems to have a lot of issues.

I upgraded Karmic Koala 9.10 with sudo aptitude safe-upgrade and received the following preamble:

613 regular upgrades, 30 new, 1 to remove, and 16 not upgraded. 425 mb required for archives,
232 mb to re-use.

Prior to the upgrade audio portion of videos, you tube, etc, worked perfectly.

Now, just 2 sounds are heard; the opening ubuntu screen, and following the ubuntu log-in
screen.

Prior to upgrade you tube audio worked ok, as before. Now, just the opening ubuntu screen and
login screen produce sound.

Adobe Flash player is now playing audio correctly. Noticed this on 10 July 2009. I've received many updates over the past two weeks, so I'm not sure which did the trick. However, I thought I'd note it here for those who were having problems.

I've fixed my problem by installing flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound and adjusting the PCM channel in kmix.
I've find the flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound hint in comment #10 on #291371.

Thank you.
