After some time working with my machine, the nm-applet disappears. When I launch it via terminal the icon in the top bar reappears but gives the following errors:
michael@
** (nm-applet:18107): WARNING **: nm_client_
** (nm-applet:18107): WARNING **: nm_client_
(nm-connection-
** Message: nm_connection_

** (nm-applet:18107): WARNING **: nm_client_
Additionally when I left click onto the nm-applet icon it just says
NetworkManager is not running...
although I am connected to the Internet (Firefox and Transmission still work).

same here.
i tried to set /etc/NetworkMan ager/nm- system- settings. conf "manage=true", but that didn't seem to improve anything. in fact, after this change my wifi was down and stayed down until i reset the previous change.
nm-tool doesn't launch since 'apparently' no NM is running. nm-applet produces the following:
user@ubuntu:~$ nm-applet & dbus_manager_ start_service( ): Could not acquire the NetworkManagerU serSettings service as it is already taken. Return: 3
