Bug Description

Printing problem in gimp with Intrepid Ibis, Ubuntu 8.10. Gimp version is 2.6.1. Printing works fine when only 1 document is printed, but with multiple copies of the same document set to print, problems occur. Instead of printing the copies, blank pages are sent through the printer. Upgraded to 2.6.3 with Jaunty's package, same issue. Tired downgrading to Hardy's 2.4.6 version of Ubuntu, and had the same problem. Tried downgrading to 2.4.5 in Hardy, same problem. No work around found as of yet, and I'm considering downgrading my entire system from Intrepid to Hardy

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better.

Please enable debug logging as follows:
Select "System" -> "Administration" -> "Printing" in the main menu of your desktop. The printer setup tool system-config-printer will open. Select "Server Settings" in the list on the left. Then check the checkbox "Save debugging information for troubleshooting" and click "Apply".

Then print multiple copies of the same document and add /var/log/cups/error_log as an attachment to the bug report. This is a file where CUPS writes information about what it is doing. Almost all printing problems can be diagnosed from the error log, so it is the first place to look to start solving problems.

Please attach the output of the PrintingBugInfoScript as described in https://wiki.ubuntu.com/PrintingBugInfoScript (the Hardy version works for Intrepid, too)

Back from holidays, and trying to sort out my printing problems. Still no joy. Heaps of printing updates to cups on my return, but still nothing that fixes this. Prints fine with single pages in Gimp, but trying to do 10 prints one page and 9 blanks. I've attached the files above which you've requested. Please let me know if there's a work around, or I'm going to have to downgrade to Hardy. Cheers.

Thank you for the attached info.
Looks like Florian did not subscribe to the bug and so could not give you feedback before.

Have you any news about this?

I guess to figure out it is not gimp related (I would really surprise it is), you could try to print an image file with:
lpr -#2 <image-file>
the -#2 means 2 copies.

You could test if it is on all files (text files included).
