Bug Description

Intrepid Ibex. Updated right before submitting this report.

Right after login there is no "shut down" or "restart" options in the fast user switch.

Guest session, Log out and the pidgin-stuff are there.

If I start the Update manager, and check for updates the "shut don"- abd "restart"-options appears right after i submit my password.

Neither "sudo apt-get" update or "sudo apt-get upgrade" helps so I thought it has something to do with submitting my password, but "gksudo gedit" or "gksu gedit" doesn't either help.

Only letting the update manager check for updates gives me "shut down" and "restart" back.

Note that there is no problems shutting down the computer with ie System → Shut down.

If you want any logs or a list of my installed packages you need only say so.

Hi!

Did you try restarting X and see if the problem persists?

Thank you for your bug report. Can you please go to System -> Preferences -> Sessions and make sure that Gnome Power Manager is checked.

The problem first occured a couple of weeks ago, have restarted the computer several times since then.

I added gnome-power-manager to sessions and that fixed it. Thank you :-)

Do I mark the report as fixed or not-a-bug or something?

Well, it has already been reported as bug 298811, although it is debatable whether it is actually a bug. The fast-user-switch-applet uses gnome-power-manager to discover what power-management options are available, in order to determine what to display.

I shall mark this report as a duplicate of it.
