Bug Description

I upgraded from Ubuntu 8.04 ro 8.10 and have run into several problems with images in general. Streaming video from the web will not playing spite of the re-installation of all flash players that worked in 8.04. No error message or "plug-ins required" message is displayed. Also, whenever I attempt to upload a picture in .jpg format, I receive an error message that I am not uploading a .jpg file.

Thanx for getting back to me. Since I posted that Bug I have discovered that the problem only resides on my laptop ( a 3-year old Acer). My desktop PC seems to be fine. After some looking around I saw a post that indicated that certain video cards are no longer supported in 8.10. I don't know how to check my laptop to see what card it has installed. If that is the case, I'd like to downgrade back to 8.04 on my laptop only, but can't find any help links to do that, either. lol
Thanx again!

 Morgan

when you say streaming videos from the web, what kind is it? flash, mms, etc?
I think the problem of this bug report is that there are multiple issues, it should be split
-jpeg problem
-streaming videos
-graphics card problems

There's no real way to downgrade, best option is to reinstall or keep troubleshooting.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Have you tried upgrading to Jaunty (9.04)? Thanks in advance.
