Bug Description

Binary package hint: mingw32, mingw32-runtime

When trying to compile the latest revisions of FFmpeg (http://ffmpeg.org), its ./configure script gives the following error

ERROR: MinGW runtime version must be >= 3.15.

Command was:
./configure --enable-memalign-hack --enable-shared --disable-static --enable-w32threads --enable-gpl --enable-swscale --extra-cflags="-D EPROTONOSUPPORT=43" --cross-prefix=i586-mingw32msvc- --enable-cross-compile --target-os=mingw32 --prefix=$HOME/mingw32

I've downloaded the respective tarball from the mingw site and unpacked it to /usr/i586-mingw32msvc/, and this has solved the problem.

Then, FFmpeg wanted Win32 API >=3.13:

ERROR: avisynth and vfwcap_demuxer require w32api version 3.13 or later.

Again, the problem was solved by downloading the respective tarball and unpacking it to /usr/i586-mingw32msvc/

I was experimenting with the FFmpeg revision 16038.

The bug is already reported to Debian, it'd be better to attend a little before uploading a new upstream version.
It shouldn't be long and difficult, I've already a test package in my PPA.

The new pstream version fixes this, and other two bugs:
http://bugs.debian.org/452977
http://bugs.debian.org/474401
and moreover is said by upstream to be the "stable version": IMHO it's worth having it in karmic.

the only rdepend is mingw32 and it builds fine:

This bug was fixed in the package mingw32-runtime - 3.15.2-0ubuntu1

---------------
mingw32-runtime (3.15.2-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  * new upstream release. (LP: #306542)
  * debian/control: bumped standard-version to 3.8.2,
  * set debhelper compat version to 5, and debhelper b-dep to 5.0
