Bug Description

Binary package hint: ffmpeg

Testing in jaunty I am not able to use the libx264 codec of ffmpeg (via libavcodec-unstripped-52), which did work in intrepid.

the x264 package in jaunty was too old, ffmpeg wouldn't build against it when I uploaded ffmpeg the last time.

this means x264 needs to be uploaded first before x264 support can be enabled again.

Got that problem on Intrepid too. Rebuilding the package with "confflags += --enable-libx264" in debian/confflags fixed the issue.

I thought (see comment 2 [1]) that x264 first needed to be updated,
which is not the case yet [2].

IIRC the package FTBFS for me at that time. Else I would have enabled
x264 earlier. I disabled x264 deliberatly so that other packages had
more time to be fixed for the API changes.

btw, the ffmpeg packaging has moved to git.debian.org. I've also
imported the ubuntu uploads, so patches for that branch would be very
appreciated.

As said, I did build the package with x264 support on my Intrepid, so I guess the problem is fixed.

Bug 243451 is said to be fixed (the packages are built for all architectures except ia64). That means that a new version of x264 is available now in Jaunty. Maybe that helps with this bug?

the binaries are not available in the archive yet. A new upload of
ffmpeg is necessary anyway to build against the new x264.
