Bug Description

Binary package hint: brasero

First noticed this bug on 8.04, still present in 8.10.

Brasero reports:

"Insufficient space on media (0 available for 357796)."

The log is attached.

This bug occurs consistently when attempting to burn audio CD's, but in the latest instance, I was trying to burn a CD image.

To reproduce, try to burn an audio CD with one short track.

I have two files one is a large .wav file and the other is the same thing in .ogg format.

It reports the correct info for the .ogg but not the .wav file.

kindest Regards,

Had the same problem on Ubuntu 8.10 with brasero 0.8.2. Upgraded to 0.8.3 due to Pedro's post but unfortunately the problem persists.

I've tried creating an audio CD via the 'copy cd' dialog that pops up when you insert an audio CD, as well as crating one from mp3s - the CD is always displayed as full.

i think it has something to do with the write permissions in the folder used as temp for the conversion of mp3s.
after having copied the album (mp3) i was trying to burn to my home folder, brasero didn't repeat that behaviour.

the burning originally failed; at that point the files i was trying to burn belonged to another user and i had no write permission in the folder they were in.

the other issue with displaying no space on disk in the main window is another problem, that maybe should be addressed in an extra bug report...

what's clear, is that the error messages in these 2 bugs have to become more distinct, if one should ever be able to ascertain what's actually wrong while trying to burn a cd with brasero

I have experienced the same, "not enough space" could it be my Ubuntu is installed through windows xp? I did try to install as a free standing o/s with not allot of luck, so I removed the partition and installed back in windows. I am happy with Ubuntu but still can't burn cd's

@PirateNamedNeo:

Installing through Windows XP should not make a difference.

Remember you can still burn data CD's in Ubuntu using the Places -> "CD/DVD Creator" utility.

This seems to be fixed for me in Hardy Heron 64 bit.

My ubunutu 8.04 was upgrades to 8.10 now Brasero will not burn anything.
It won't report media disk space correctly, it reports zero
It doesn't detect disk type.
So do we have to wait until Jaunty for a fix, no burning until then?
Why is this bug low priority?
