Does the self-made have sound when played on other systems? Have you tried playing it from different media? (i mean was the original on hard-drive and did that have sound?) Is it possible to play your dvd through a dvd player that's not a computer one?

Good luck and happy hunting :)

Errr, there are a lot of volume settings. Maybe one of the ones that affects recording was somehow set low or wrong (default settings can be wrong) or maybe its a volume control that somehow is used in playing back your dvd. Do other movies that aren't self-made play with sound?

Hi, another error issued wit another home made DVD: here you are

" DBus error
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NoReply: Did not receive a reply. Possible causes
include: the remote application did not send a reply, the message bus security
policy blocked the reply, the reply timeout expired, or the network connection
was broken. "

Can you help me please? I don't know its meaning.
Thanks in
advance.

Oh dear, sorry to hear that. I haven't got a clue how to help and haven't tried this sort of thing myself. I'd try hunting around in Synaptics Package Manager for a better tool for doing this. Have you tried hunting upstream at Bugzilla? Google searches are sometimes good too. Good luck in hunting for an answer to this.

I might be on the same situation as you.
I'm running Jaunty, and my selfmade dvd does not have audio *only* if opened as a dvd. If I instead open the .VOB file, audio works.

So the problem might be libdvdread, adding it

does it working using totem-xine?

Yes, it works.

In xine the audio is recognized as:
codec: Linear PCM
channels: 0
sample rate: 48000 Hz
bitrate: 1536 kbps

in gstreamer the audio is recognized as:
codec: N/A
channels: Stereo
sample rate: 48000 Hz
bitrate: N/A

I'm attaching the output of totme-xine and totem-gstreamer

Sorry I forgot this problem.
I use now openSuse 11.1 (gnome) and I find it
very stable.
 Thanks for your attention.

There's also me, I also have this problem and I still use ubuntu. This
is an ubuntu only problem, so I can't understand what can upstream
do...
