Using Latest copy of Ibex, however this update also crashed on previous linux OS Hardy Heron.

Is this a wubi installation and what is the filesystem type of /boot ?

Yes, it is a wubi installation in the bigger disk (/dev/sdb).
In the other disk there is an older version of ubuntu (two or three yeasrs old)
Not sure about the /boot filesystem question.
