I'm having I think the same problem. The package either fails to install or takes too long, but that is because the sourforge.net respositories are too slow to respond. I don't think this is a bug on apt or ubuntu, the solution would be to provide other mirrors for the font files to be searched automatically in this case.

This usually happens because of lack of Internet connection, as the setup downloads the .exe files while installing.

The current hardware is a medion 2120. The Gateway should work perfectly with Ubuntu. You may have wireless networking problems though. I did with my medion (otherwise absolutely perfect). To get around the wireless connection problem, use a PC card wireless adapter TP link ones generally work out of the box with Ubuntu 7.10 and up. MIne did. plug it in, switch the computer on Ubuntu finds the hard way, and asks for permissions to load closed source drivers. and that's it.

It thinks 127.0.0.1 is correct proxy. It is stupid sulition but I added

export http_proxy="some_free_proxy" and it works.

Strange that he thinks I have a proxy on 127.0.0.1.Do you know how to get rid off it?
