Bug Description

After I upgraded to Ubuntu 8.10 my audio seems to have gone away. Ran the alsa-info.sh and got the following URL:

http://www.alsa-project.org/db/?f=9c870c9d54322cc0532dc4bd81655141737af439

Tried killing the PulseAudio process, but this didn't help.

Thanks,
--Jeff

And if I try to fix the volume all I got is the mesegge:

Hi Jeff,

This bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? Can you try with the latest development release of Ubuntu? ISO CD images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/releases/karmic .

If it remains an issue, could you run the following command from a Terminal (Applications->Accessories->Terminal). It will automatically gather and attach updated debug information to this report.

apport-collect -p linux 299180

Also, if you could test the latest upstream kernel available that would be great. It will allow additional upstream developers to examine the issue. Refer to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/KernelMainlineBuilds . Once you've tested the upstream kernel, please remove the 'needs-upstream-testing' tag. This can be done by clicking on the yellow pencil icon next to the tag located at the bottom of the bug description and deleting the 'needs-upstream-testing' text. Please let us know your results.

Thanks in advance.

The issue persist. After upgrate to Ubuntu 8.04 my audio stops working and also Totem Movie Player is not working. I can't play DVDs and have no audio when streaming videos from the internet. I have no sound, not even when I turn my computer on and put my user name and password. I got noting. No even a "beep".

I'm not a computer technician, so if the solution is more complicated than open the Upgrade Manager and click the Instal Upgrade buton, I will need very specific step by step instruction.
