Sorry that I didn't update before. I installed the deb mentioned above and the plugin works fine now.

I am simply amazed at the quick action taken on this, from triage to confirmation to fix in about a day is awesome. People really need to put things in launchpad instead of forums!

Now I need to put in a tough one about gnome-safe-mode. ;-)

Thanks,
Dave

This bug was fixed in the package compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported - 0.7.8-0intrepid1

---------------
compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported (0.7.8-0intrepid1) intrepid-proposed; urgency=low

  * New upstream release
  * the 0.7.6 version of compiz-fusion-plugins-unsupported will
    not work with compiz 0.7.8 so this update is needed (LP: #296811)
