F11 key a couple of times? Maybe the unmaximised window is larger than the display and resolution settings. Can you drag the maximised window down and then change firefox's size?

F11 twice worked for me -- thanks much. This was following the upgrade to 3.0

Glad it worked :)

Did my answer only work after upgrading to 3.0.4 or was it that the problem only started after upgrade to 3.0.4?

Anyway, good luck and thanks :)

Tom,

thanks,

actually, I'm still having the problem and part of it is that every time that Firefox opens (this is all new, after the upgrade to 3.0.4, wasn't around before), I'm missing the min/max/close buttons and have to dink around with the F11 button. At least I know how to deal with it for the short term until the bug is fixed, it's not actually a huge inconvenience (not like the problems I had with IE7/spyware on a Windows machine last week). The Firefox issue I'm having is under Ubuntu.

appreciatively,

Dana

FF 3.05/AMD64 still having this issue. I guess it could be some compiz-metacity related misbehavior. But firefox it's the only application doing this.

Console says this:
Gtk-Message: (for origin information, set GTK_DEBUG): failed to retrieve property `GtkTreeView::odd-row-color' of type `GdkColor' from rc file value "((GString*) 0x1df8660)" of type `GString'

@pritam292: as far as I can tell, your problem is unrelated to what is being discussed here. Please don't hijack and reassign an existing bug report to submit an issue about an unrelated new problem. Instead, report a new bug (after investigating that an existing report doesn't already cover your case).

Oops, I see now that you were the original reporter of this bug. Still, bug reports should be per issue, not per submitter.

Ubuntu Edgy (6.10) was announced to have reached End Of Life around a year ago. The EOF notice for Gutsy (7.10) was published recently http://www.ubuntu.com/news/ubuntu-7.10-eol so I guess in conjunction with that they finally turned off the archive for Edgy.
