Allow me to modify the report,
I could log-in to gmail after adding "talk.google.com" in "connect server" field in advanced tab!
so, the report may be modified to "talk.google.com" isn't added by default!!

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering is this still an issue for you? Could you try to reproduce the same with Ubuntu 8.10 or 9.04? Thanks in advance.

Hi, my Gmail on pdigin is still not working. The problem began when I
switched hard drive at the end of December when I instalerade Ubuntu 8.10 on
it.
My two msn accounts and ICQ account works as before, but not G-mail. I
have the exact same settings in Pidgin at my other computer (Windows XP,
Work computer) that works without problems, and my wifes computer still
works without problems and she have Ubuntu as wel, same settings on G-mail.

Maybe i have to install Pidgin 2.5.4 insted, but its to much problems for me
as a normal user, i hope its coming son like a normal Ubuntu update. But i
think its taking to long time...

In Gmail account settings, have you « talk.google.com » for the connexion server ?

---------------------

Dans les préférences du compte Gamil, est ce qu'il y a « talk.google.com » comme paramètre pour le serveur de connexion ?
Car dans les dernières version de Pidgin, ce champ n'est pas renseigné automatiquement.

I have tried that as well with and with out "talk.google.com" and its not
working.
The little circle down left in the pidgin window is not evet start to go
around like a klock. so it looks like something just hands upp, total stop
in the pidgin program...

With Pidgin 2.5.5 when you add a Google Talk account, « talk.google.com » in « connect server » field in advanced tab isn't present.

Now it works again, I tried to write "talk.google.com" in the "connect the server" I needed to restart the computer first before it took effect, did not know that.
Should I now somehow report that this is resolved or what??
First time I wrote a bugreport....
thanks for your help, luigifab, Pedro and Mina

Confirmed that this is also a Jaunty Issue. It must have been correct earlier in Jaunty development because the install I have which started life as an alpha 3 or 4 works without this intervention.
