logout button and user name crunched together

Bug Description

I just upgraded to 8.10 and the power button does not look like it should. Now, I do not have the task bar at the top/bottom like most users. It is on the left side of the screen. Anyway, my user name and logout button look smashed together, like they're competing for the same space. Attached is a screen shot of my problem.
