Bug Description

Binary package hint: network-manager-gnome

This bug may be replicated in the following way: connect to a WPA wireless network. Disable networking.

# sudo iwconfig wlan0 mode monitor
# sudo iwconfig wlan0 mode managed

Bring up networking

Now try to connect. It just keeps popping up asking for a network key.

Login and logout. Problem remains. Reboot--problem fixed.

Using an intel 3945 wireless card on Intrepid. This problem does not occur with Wicd.

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. The issue that you reported is one that should be reproducible with the live environment of the Desktop CD of the development release - Jaunty Jackalope. It would help us greatly if you could test with it so we can work on getting it fixed in the next release of Ubuntu. You can find out more about the development release at http://www.ubuntu.com/testing/. Thanks again and we appreciate your help.

I can confirm that this bug still exits in 9.04 using the same method of replication with the same driver (iwl3945).

Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make Ubuntu better. You reported this bug a while ago and there hasn't been any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue for you. Can you try with the latest Ubuntu release? Thanks in advance.

I now use wicd instead of gnome-network-manager: I prefer the configuration
options and files offered by wicd and find the GUI way more user-friendly
and functionnal.
Since I am not planning on going back to gnome-network-manager soon, you'd
rather have someone else test this.
