nautilus-image-converter in Nautilus doesn't appear after installation

This is a bug report for problems with Nautilus 2.24.1-0 in a fresh, clean install of Ubuntu Intrepid 8.10.
2.6.27-7-generic #1 SMP Thu Oct 30 04:18:38 UTC 2008 i686 GNU/Linux

All of the following presumably related bugs are present in Intrepid's/GNOME's new Nautilus:

This also goes for nautilus image-converter:

1. apt-get install nautilus-image-converter
2. Restart Nautilus (still doesn't appear)
3. Reboot machine (still doesn't appear)

Following the advice on https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/audio-convert/+bug/130055 - which says:

"the user must read '/usr/share/doc/nautilus-script-audio-convert/README.Debian' and discover they must run:

'nautilus-script-manager enable ConvertAudioFile'"

..solves the problem with _that_ particular extension/add-on, but the other add-ons remain absent and essentially renders Nautilus half the tool it used to be. You cannot resize images, cannot rotate them etc. etc.

All of the scripts normally installable via:

apt-get install nautilus-script-collection-svn

suffer the same problem.

Nautilus is sinking - is the captain still on board? Can we turn the ship around?

Sebastien: They aren't duplicates. Bug #269213 is about Nautilus needing to be restarted for nautilus-image-converter to be available, this bug is about nautilus-image-converter's options not being available at all.

mp: Can you try if this still happens if you uninstall nautilus-script-manager?

OK, strangely the image converter options have now appeared. I am not
sure what happened (many reboots later) - I did not notice exactly when,
but after filing the bug report and reading around, particularly about
the post-install script, I reinstalled image-converter via Synaptic and
the options now appear in the context many on right click. So far so
good. So this bug can be closed, since I can't reproduce it or do
anything else with it any longer.

The "set as wallpaper" option has also appeared now.

However, the script collecion is still missing.

Maybe I should open a bug on that issue....
