Bug Description

Binary package hint: compiz

at start up, the global menu on the bottom does not display automatically. also, at each windown, the min/max/close buttons on the top right does not appear. my computer is also being pushed back and hidden behind the upper panel bar.

everything is ok after i reload the window manager from the compiz icon.

i am using eeeubuntu (hardy version 8.04)

fyi, everything used to work fine, so i am not sure if it is because i made some changes which lead to this.

Hi,

With the latest Ubuntu, I still noticed problems with compiz not loading at
startup.

However, if I change the desktop appearance to "Best performance" then
compiz starts up fine.

Hope this helps and thanks for following up with my ticket.

Set what to best performance, exactly? I can't find a setting for compiz or the desktop in general that matches that.

I am having the same problem in 10.04. I did not have it in 9.04. Reloading the windows manager from the compiz icon always fixes it, but I was just curious as to what causes this bug. Thanks.

I am having the same problem in 10.04. I updated this morning & was prompted to restart. After I restarted, I had no title-bars, etc (no window decoration). I found this thread and installed fusion-icon. I can restart the window manager via fusion-icon as stated above, but I'd really like to know the root-cause of this issue and get it fixed up.

Are you guys using Emerald or Metacity as the Decorator? I have this problem when I use Emerald (where the Window Decorator doesn't show up on log in). Usually an Alt+F2 and running "emerald --raplace" or just logging out and logging back in fixes it usually.

This bug also affects me. I have to use 'Reload window manager' option from Fusion Icon almost every time after I start my system (Mint 9 - Isadora). I have the newest version of Compiz for Lucid. I don't know if this is Emerald bug or Compiz bug. But this makes using Emerald almost useless and very annoying. I use Emerald 0.72 I i haven't found any new version of Emerald.
In Compiz manager - effects - window decoration I have "emerald --replace" and in start-up "compiz --replace".
