fidefrag lost my file

fidefrag 2.11, Ubuntu 8.04.

Fidefrag just lost my file. I had this file:

 495.86 MB 8290 P 16.72 P/MB ./The Power Of Nightmares - 02... Phantom Victory.avi

I was running fidefrag on it. Unintentionally I closed the terminal window. After that my harddisk was working for 10 more seconds and in the end a new file with the same name, but only 6,5MB size appeared in the folder (Nautilus refreshed the thumbnail). When I open it, it is just first 40sec of an original 1hour long film. The original file is gone.

This is a huge problem, it is not safe.

I was trying to repeat this bug for a few times (even on the same file, I had it backed up), but I haven't succeeded, the file was always ok. But I am sure it was not ok the first time, so the possibility of file corruption exists. Unfortunately I can't provide with more detailed information.

I agree, this is a critical bug. I'll put as many failsafes into this thing
as I can. I appreciate all those bug reports you have filed. Let's see what
I can code this weekend.
