Bug Description

Binary package hint: inkscape

When choosing to extrude a path I get the attached message. It would be far better to automaticly startup synaptics install the needed packages. Nevertheless - I installed the libxml*perl packages and the message STILL shows up (after restarting and everything).

Hello,

This is actually documented in the packages's description:

" Some of the import and export features are provided using the packages
dia, libwmf-bin, pstoedit, skencil, imagemagick, and perlmagick.

Other extensions use ruby, libxml-xql-perl, python-numpy, and python-lxml.
You must have these packages to make full use of all extensions and effects."

Technically, the inkscape package "recommends" libwmf-bin, pstoedit, imagemagick and perlmagick, but only "suggests" dia | dia-gnome, ruby, libxml-xql-perl, python, python-numpy, python-lxml and skencil. The "suggested" packages will not be installed automatically.

I hope this explains…

Have a nice day,

Thanks for the explanation - but I have the libxml* packages installed - so IMO it should work (or there is something else I missed).

Then sadly I can not help you further, because on my system it is the necessary and sufficient package to reproduce this bug :(
