would not download updates

clicked on update notifier, it started searching, never asked me to log in, got this error message from computer,
 which is incomprehensible to me:

Could not initialize the package information

A unresolvable problem occurred while initializing the package information.

Please report this bug against the 'update-manager' package and include the following error message:

'E:Problem parsing dependency Depends, E:Error occurred while processing btnx (NewVersion1), E:Problem with MergeList /var/lib/apt/lists/repoubuntusoftware.info_dists_harty_all_binary-i386_Packages, E:The package lists or status file could not be parsed or opened.'

using Ubuntu 8.04, Hardy Heron

go to System>software sources and in third party software uncheck "repoubuntusoftware.info" there is a handling issue with this repository

thanks! that fixed it--and now that i've gotten the download i can see music
players on myspace again...fyi, here's my music site....

successfully downloaded latest updates, but tha myspace music player
disappeared again....wtf? can other people see it?
