Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and help make Ubuntu better. Please attach the contents of /var/log/dist-upgrade as individual attachments. Please also attach your /etc/apt/sources.list.

Thanks

Thanks. Your sources.list is broken due to duplicated entries added by Ultamatix. Please delete the following lines between "#ULTAMATIX REPOS START" and "#ULTAMATIX REPOS END" and then try again:

deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-updates multiverse

deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-updates multiverse

deb-src http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy multiverse

deb http://us.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy multiverse

deb http://security.ubuntu.com/ubuntu hardy-security multiverse

Actually, it seems like that isn't causing your error. Could you try disabling the Ultimatix repositories and then trying again?

Thanks Chris. I went into the Software Sources and disabled the Ultimax repositories, and all is well. Can you tell me how to get Ultimax out of >Applications >system tools.? If I click on that again, it rebuilds itself and I have to go back and remove the offending repositories all over again. Thank you for your help.

Thanks. I'm not sure how you remove Ultamatix though, as I've never used it. If it was installed from a deb file, then you should be able to uninstall it via Synaptic (System -> Administration -> Synaptic Package Manager).

Thanks Chris. Yep, Synaptic got rid of it.
Everything is working fine now.
I'm really grateful.

Raul - It seems that Ultamatix are providing a broken package list, which causes apt to fail, and you aren't the only person with this problem. It seems that we are keeping a bug report open against apt, so I'm marking this as a duplicate of it.
