Bug Description

Binary package hint: rhythmbox

I am running Ubuntu 8.04 LTS Desktop Edition on an HP Pavilion 8360 with an Intel Pentium II processor. The is no new hardware inside the desktop except for memory and a CD Burner. The error under the properties menu in rhythmbox says 'failed to connect stream: invalid argument' when I try to play it in totem it says the stream has no data. Is it because I need a plugin for .wav? Thank-you

Yes, this bug is reproducible but only on one computer. Other computers ask to fetch an update for wavpack. I have already fetched the update and the computer will still not read a compact disk. To reproduce, just use a fresh load of Ubuntu 8.04 and insert a commercial music cd.

could you open the bug on bugzilla.gnome.org where the people writting the software will read it since you can trigger the issue easily apparently and then reply to their comment

Any news about this? Did ypu sent it upstream? May you tell us the bug number? For forwarding instructions have a look at https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Bugs/Upstream/GNOME. Thanks.

Upstream? What's that, and how do I go about doing that? I also don't know how to pull up any log information to help with this bug, so if you can help me send that information I will be glad to send that with the upstream as well. I have no programming experience so I cannot notice errors in code, but maybe someone else could using the log data. Thank-you

What is Jaunty? No, I did not open a GNOME bug, do you suppose it is a problem with the version of GNOME?

I am not using Jaunty, I am using Rhythmbox. The bug cannot be as confusing as you are making it. The problem is I cannot play a Metalica CD on a Ubuntu machine using Rhythumbox. Error occurs, "failed to connect stream: invalid argument. The reason, the stream has no data. Why? Answer me this and you'll find your fix for the bug. Confusing? ...
