Bug Description

Binary package hint: kdm-kde4

In "System Settings" > "About Me" I've changed my personal image but the image I've choosen it's ignored by KDM.
I've also tried to change things in "Login Manager", in user tab I've configured kdm to give the user face priority if there are both system and user face, but nothing changed.

I'm using Kubuntu intrepid ibex 64bit.

It works for me. I configured the "User Image Source" of KDM with "System, user".

Distro: Kubuntu Intrepid Ibex Beta (up to date).

Yeah on a genera level it should actually work. I guess a reboot will work for sure.

The much greater problem I see here, is that one actually has to change the KDM configuration.

This bug was fixed in the package kdebase-workspace - 4:4.1.2-0ubuntu7

---------------
kdebase-workspace (4:4.1.2-0ubuntu7) intrepid; urgency=low

  [ Roderick B. Greening ]
  * Reverted kubuntu_17_kwin_branch.diff
    - remove references from kde-window-manager.install
  * Remove tooltip window preview from kubuntu_17_kwin_branch.diff
    - and add to kubuntu_20_plasma_tooltips.diff

  [ Harald Sitter ]
  * Add kubuntu_900_fix_klipper_crash.diff from upstream SVN (LP: #278482)
  * KDM should prefer user image resources (default would only
use images defined by the administrator) (LP: #280746)

I've still the problem using kubuntu 8.10 @ 64 bit and KDE 4.1.3.

KDM stills ignore my ~/.face.icon, in the KDM preferences under "users" I've choosen in "User, System" "user image source", but it still show the system one on login, I'm making something wrong? BTW it's not a critical bug :P

This happes on Ubuntu 8.10 with kde 4.2. After upgrading to 4.2 the settings were changed again to "system".
The default setting should be "user, system" otherwise, this will br broken on every update

I run kubuntu 9.04, fresh install, and only my main user account, which is the account that the installer created (admin), can change its user image in the login manager (through "About Me" in "System Settings").

Other users (they are not admins!) can change their image through "About Me", but the image is not updated in the login screen.

Changing the user image through "Login Manager" in "System Settings" does change the user image. However, I want to let the other users to change their image in the login screen.

Notice:
When users change their image, the image is updated in "About Me" and in the Kickoff menu (at the top, next to the search field).

BTW, what is the diffrence between User and System in System Settings->Login Manager->Users->User Image Source?

I am experiencing this issue with a fresh install of Kubuntu 9.04, 64 bit.
Only the default user (with sudo privileges) created during the install can change the KDM "face" icon for him/her self.
In the Login Manager, setting User Image Source to "User, System" or "System, User" does not work.

The .face.icon file does get created in the users home directory when the user sets this icon using the "About Me" window.
KDM does not seem to pick this up.

Same problem with Kubuntu 12.04:
- User can set his face
- File ~/.face.icon created successful with read permission for all
- in kdmrc file there are option: FaceSource=PreferUser
- in KDM I see default icon for this user

Where is the problem and how I can solve it?
