Bug Description

Binary package hint: flashplugin-nonfree

installed ubuntu intrepid 8.10 beta yesterday, and flashplugin-nonfree when prompted by firefox, it seemed to freeze during install so i restarted it and installed the plugin successfully a second time.

but youtube videos don't have sound,

I expected them to have sound

I've got a dell latitude d600

it didn't like 8.04 so I'm not sure if it's an unresolved pulse audio/ALSA issue

Loving the improvements and stability of 8.10, this is the only hiccup so far.

I'm available by email for more info, followup.

I can confirm this. I had same issue with Ubuntu 8.04, but it was fixed by installing libflashsupport. But now it is conflicting with 10.0.12.10 version of flashplugin-nonfree, so I can't use it.

thankyou for fixing this bug and for continuing to improve this excellent distribution of 'nix.

Too complication I can understand. I give up from
Ubuntu and buy a Vista.

by installing libflashsupport. But now it is
conflicting with 10.0.12.10
version of flashplugin-nonfree, so I can't use it.

The flashplugin-nonfree was uninstalled during my upgrade to Ubuntu 8.10.
Resinstalling it solved the problem.

The package libflashsupport should not be installed on Ubuntu 8.10.

I can confirm: with the latest version of flashplugin-nonfree-extrasound, sound will work fine until the computer is restarted, then no more.

There's a work around I've discovered for this until the error is finally resolved.
I downloaded the Epiphany Web Browser via Synaptic. YouTube works fine with sound in that browser.
