Feature Request: Track labels

In Amarok, you can assign a label (rather than tag) to each track in a many-to-many relationship. These can be used effectively through smart/dynamic playlists, giving another useful element for manually grouping tracks. They're also useful for keeping the library organised, for example I used them to label all tracks that needed re-encoding, which I could then pull out in a list using a smart playlist.

Would be nice if there was a similar feature in Exaile.

I find labels [or groups] to be most useful
for generating, smart playlists that are 1000's of songs long for mp3 players or other best of type lists

The trunk version of Exaile has support for the 'grouping' tag for most audio formats. This field can be used to apply arbitrary labels to a file.

I've made a bunch of patches to manage this field, including the ability for smart playlists to search based on this tag, and a plugin called GroupTagger that allows you to manage multiple labels on a particular track. I've committed them all to my dj_improvements branch, which you can check out from launchpad using the following bzr command:

GroupTagger and related functionalities for the grouping tag have been integrated into trunk for awhile now. I think this fixes your problem. Closing this bug.
