Bug Description

Kubuntu Intrepid beta with all upgrades installed, all visual styles are set to Oxygen (styles/themes/icons/....)

Open konqueror and make sure the "navigation bar" is open (F9). In the navigation bar most icons are missing and are replaced by question mark.

Did you change the home button icon yourself? If not this is not the official oxygen set. You can try if this issue also appears with a new user (which I doubt currently).

The system is a clean install of Kubuntu Intrepid alpha 6 + all upgrates (=beta).
The repositories for Hardy are also included due to bug #272834.
No manual changes to the icon set were made, no customizations, etc.

For a new user everything is fine.
For an "old" user (home directory had been used in KDE3 in Hardy Heron and before) for which the problem occurs I just changed the iconset to "Oxygen", similarly for the desktop scheme.

Wipe .kde/share/icons ... something overrides the global icon set leading to this problem. Since this is not an issue in the icon set itself (it would also appear for a new user then) this bug is invalid.

I did an upgrade from Hardy to Jaunty yesterday. Identical problem for me for two out of three of the pre-existing users. (I don't know why they would be different). Wiping .kde/share/icons doesn't solve the problem for me.

However removing .kde/share/apps/konqsidebartng did solve the problem for me. The .desktop files under this folder contained icon names which were different to the default values.

It looks to me like this is a reproduceable fault in the migration of konqueror profiles from KDE 3 to KDE 4. I see it on both machines that I have upgraded.

The icon names I see in the konqsidebartng folders generated by KDE3 are the default names for a new user in Hardy (i.e. this is not the result of playing around with icon sets). I have just checked this on a Hardy machine that has not yet been migrated. The default names for a new user in Jaunty are different. e.g. "view-history" (KDE4) versus "history" (KDE3). I think the reason one of my KDE 3 users didn't see this problem was because they had never used the Konqueror sidebar under KDE 3 and hence the konqsidebartng folder had not been created under KDE3.

So I don't know about the categorization but isn't this a valid bug if upgrading is supported?
