Bug Description

Binary package hint: kile

For a full functionality kile requires kdvi and kpdf. Both packages are missing in Intrepid Ibex.

Either kpdf and kdvi should be brought back to the repositories for Intrepid Ibex or kile should be changed to used Okular instead.

Okular does not support reverse searches. kdvi can be installed from the binary repositories from hardy, only requiring kviewshell and other dependencies that are satisfied in intrepid.

I still think that user experience would be much nicer if kdvi, kpdf and their dependencies would be included in Intrepid Ibex without user tinkering with repositories.

I think the same applies to the konsole from KDE3. It is missing in kile and was helpful to me for executing scripts.

This bug was fixed in the package kile - 1:2.0.1-1ubuntu1

---------------
kile (1:2.0.1-1ubuntu1) intrepid; urgency=low

  * Kile should work with okular. (LP: #282311)
    - Add patch kubuntu_01_use_okular.diff to have DVI/PS/PDF view
options for Okular and set these as default.
    - Add okular to recommends for package kile.
    - Remove recommends on kghostview, kpdf as they are not in intrepid
      and replaced by okular.
  * Modify Maintainer value to match the DebianMaintainerField
    specification.

I could not configure kile to view the pdf embedded. I have the following error (which seems to be related with the miss of kpdf...)

[ViewPDF] Could not find the libkpdfpart library.

@Avenca
KPDF is replaced by Okular in KDE4 (intrepid), and as Kile is made for KDE3 it doesn't integrate that well with KDE4. Hopefully a new version of Kile that integrates well with KDE4 will be available for Jaunty.
