Bug Description

I am absolutely incapable of burning a cd on my computer.
Regardless of which program i try to use, nothing works.

The K3B program for instance, acts as if the cd burning went well, says "cd burning was successfull" at the end...
but there is only one tiny problem... nothing got burned.

I am trying to burn just a tiny jpg file on a CD-R.
My system is Kubuntu 8.04 by the way.

How do i go about burning cds and dvds on my computer?

When i try to open the cd the cd folder appears empty but with the following error message at the bottom of the screen:

"
Could not start process, unable to start io slave.
klauncher said "unknown protocol"
"

it appears to work now, but only after i eject the cd and put it back in.
before that all i have is that error message.

so the bug here is that whats been burned doesn't appear on the cd/dvd until one has ejected it and put it back in.

its not a trivial bug.

There have been many changes in Ubuntu since that time you reported the bug and your problem may have been fixed with some of the updates. It would help us a lot if you could test the current Ubuntu development version (10.10). If you can test it, and it is still an issue, we would appreciate if you could upload updated logs by running apport-collect <bug #>, and any other logs that are relevant for this particular issue.
