How did you install the slapd package in hardy ? Could you post the original slapd.conf file ?

Hi Mathias,

I installed the slapd package with "apt-get install slapd" and did no further modifications on the package. This was in a clean VM to test package upgrades. It looks like this is the same bug as #276606.

If you still need the (unmodified) hardy slapd.conf, please let me know.

Yes. Me too. Original slapd.conf from ubuntu.

The problem is, while old install on hardy some times ago, ubuntu ask me the password. I give the password. But i dunno. I see slapd.conf still not have "rootpw=<my password>". Where the hell the password??? And now, got his error

At which debconf priority are you running the test upgrade?

When upgrading from hardy to intrepid the cn=config password (which corresponds to the rootpw failure seen) is asked by a debconf question at priority high.

Are you entering a blank password when prompted for the configuration password?

I can confirm that this happens for me while upgrading to intrepid, and it happened again with a second upgrade, it is currently at version 2.4.11-0ubuntu4.

I was using "update-manager -d" to upgrade, and I recieved a prompt asking me questions I didn't really understand, so I just closed the dialog.

Running the update-manager to upgrade from Hardy to Intrepid.

I will get more as soon as I reboot and make sure life is good
