You should enable hardy-updates, this has been fixed already.

Well, in that case, why doesn;t the upgrader do that for me?

All I did was click the "upgrade me" button. Surely that shouldn't
result in these sorts of errors - especially if they're already fixed?

Debugging is twice as hard as writing the code in the first place.
Therefore, if you write the code as cleverly as possible, you are,
by definition, not smart enough to debug it - Brian Kernighan

You didn't have gutsy-updates enabled for universe therefore the upgrader respected your choice and didn't enable hardy-updates for universe either.

OK, thanks. That's a bunch of "local slang" I don't understand I'm
afraid - I'm not dim, and I've been hacking since I was about 8 years
old, and using Debian for a good few years now, followed by Ubuntu.
However, nowhere in Adept Manager can I see a mention of "universe" or
"gutsy-updates". Calling it a "choice" is a bit extreme, I don't
recall making a choice about "gutsy-updates" ever!

I have Security updates enabled, recommended updates seems to be
"grey" - what does that mean? And proposed and unsupported updates are
cleared.

I realise you are not "tech support", but I'd like to understand what
I did wrong!

Cheers,
Martin
